We have been delighted to hear of the new big plans to transform South Lake Road… all the way to Olanga! In the last few days we’ve seen the engineers and road works people at work and can confirm it is indeed happening, and happening fast! We are anticipating week by week improvements and a beautiful and lasting tarmacked road by the new year. The time between Nairobi and Olanga may drop to only two hours! Amazing.
New catering options
We’ve been expanding our pool of trusted chefs and now have six chefs who work freelance in the area and with whom guests can make their own private arrangements. Additionally, we are excited by the expansion of local gourmet ready-meal company Gathered Thyme who now have even more delicious options! Homemade slow braised duck leg, chicken ramen, lemon biscuits and more… we’ve been loving these delicious meals while sat out on the verandah watching the very active elands !
A superb time for birds
We seem to have cracked the perfect combo of seeds and sugar water needed to maximize the birding opportunities on the front lawn next to the verandah. We now not only have a plethora of sunbird varieties and our trusty noisy babblers but are now seeing different warbler species and a big increase in superb starlings who were previously occasional visitors rather than consistent residents. The colours and songs have really made the back garden a bird paradise now.
